Maine Seed and Plant Nurseries
Fedco Co-op - This is a Maine cooperative. Plants, trees, shrubs, tubers, bulbs, and seeds. Since 1978 they have been keeping Maine green.
Note: Fedco has a unique system of sales and you need to check the order dates that are listed for different products.
Fernwood Nursery - Known as "Maine's Shadiest Nursery" a visit to this garden is pure delight. Denise and Rick Sawyer have one of the largest collections of shade tolerant plants in New England. The woodland peonies are my favorite. If you are headed to Belfast or Bar Harbor set your GPS for their farm. It is well worth the trip.
Johnny's Selected Seeds - One of the highest quality vegetable seed companies in the US. Johnny's includes germination rates on all of their seed packets. ( If that is not important to you it should be.) The trial gardens are open once a year, a don't miss event.
Halls Pond Gardens - Mark Brandhorst grows hardy succulents and rock garden plants. . His one of a kind stone planters are beautiful.
McLaughlin Gardens - The garden is well worth the drive to South Paris, Maine. While you are there check out the nearby McLaughlin Gardens.
Hummingbird Farm - If you love Clematis this web site is for you no matter where you live. Cindy Tibbets offers an extensive collection of Clematis all grown on her farm. If you are in need of growing advice you may contact her on Facebook and she is quick to reply. This lovely lady is well known in Maine for her exceptional plants and extensive knowledge on growing Clematis.
Log Cabin Perennials - Kenneth Rice is the owner of this delightful one acre nursery. He field grows all of his own plants and pots them up in 1 gallon pots each spring. These are some of the healthiest perennials I have ever purchased and a visit to his garden in June will take your breath away. Early each year he lists the plants he will have for sale on his website. When I have questions about growing conditions or need a plant identified he is who I turn to.
Native Plants and Seeds
Prairie Moon Nursery - If I ever get to Minnesota this is where I'm headed. After several disappointing orders to other so called native plant and seed companies, I will never order from anyone else but Prairie Moon. Their plants and seeds are top quality and have always come true.

This list is just a few of my favorites. If you do not live in Maine or New England then it is time you paid a visit to this beautiful state. Plan your trip around gardening and you won't be disappointed. I hope to add a list in the future of the many wonderful Maine Gardens to visit.
